Great communication needs a clear "controlling" idea and a compelling point of view. Ideas must be concise and precise; less is more when sharing details. Also, successful messages cannot simply be about analysis; the business implications must be overwhelmingly clear.
A clear and concise message will not land if all key contextual factors are not accounted for. These include demographic considerations as well as relevant internal and external elements that allow you to anticipate how an audience will interpret, and ultimately, act upon your message.
Successful delivery relies upon understanding and properly managing several dynamics. Voice and tone are important, but so is structure, pacing, flow and the ability to craft a compelling story. Critically, credibility must be established and maintained. Different content and delivery modes have unique nuances which require different techniques.

Matt Reesor is a Canadian communications expert who has helped hundreds of leaders at top organizations sharpen their messaging. Since 2013, he has held a professor appointment at Smith School of Business (Queen's University) and designed numerous Masters level business communications courses. Matt also served as Director of the Full-Time MBA program at Smith (Queen's) from 2016-2023, leading the program to be ranked #1 overall in Canada in the prestigious Financial Times Rankings.
In addition, Matt delivers the highly successful Communicating with Impact program within Queen's Executive Education (QEE).
